OSBC Annual Conference
The OSBC held its tenth Annual Conference on August 30th, 31st and September 1st in Topeka, Kansas. The conference is a once-a-year opportunity for OSBC staff from across the state to convene in one location and discuss current topics and issues. The conference planning committee is comprised of volunteers from both field office and main office staff.
The conference always features varied and interesting speakers and this year was no exception. Speakers Lindsey Shull, a counterterrorism analyst for the U. S. Department of Justice and Tom Crawford, an FBI Special Agent, discussed financial institutions as targets for terrorism; Cailin Ringleman, a staff attorney for Woner, Glenn, Reeder, Girard & Riordan, P.A., addressed estate planning and end-of-life issues; Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh, an Agricultural Economics professor at Kansas State University, analyzed current economic trends and Mark Hood, a psychologist specializing in biofeedback, enlightened the group with his "Qualities of People"" presentation.
Conference activities included guided tours of the Brown vs. Board of Education Center and the Kansas State Capitol. Several employees were honored at an awards and recognition lunch, including Glen Caspers, who was named the OSBC Employee of the Year. Evening events included a golf tournament at Western Hills Golf Course and a social hour at the Topeka Ameri Suites Hotel.
